Lava Group is proud to announce its participation in the upcoming National Custody Forum. Held in the INOX Dine, Sheffield between 25th- 27th September 2024. This influential event is organised by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC). The forum brings together key stakeholders from across the UK policing sector, sharing learning and best practices in police custody.
As a leading provider of safer custody technology, Lava will showcase its latest technology offerings from its Tephra product suite. This includes our on-demand smart glass technology, Smart Hatch along with ‘Signs of Life’ detainee healthcare monitoring solution. Both designed to advance the safety and wellbeing of individuals in custodial settings.`
Smart Hatch revolutionises traditional cell observations. It enhances detainee privacy and minimises disruptions, thereby addressing key wellbeing concerns. With Smart Hatch unauthorised viewing is prevented by switching the viewing panel from obscure to clear. This features protects detainee privacy and lowers staff confrontations. In addition it also records hatch operations for increased staff safety and accountability. By recording hatch use, it safeguards staff against false claims and ensures duty of care, significantly advancing custodial safety and respect.
With our Tephra ‘Signs of Life’ solution, we aim to transform detainee monitoring by prioritising care, safety and dignity without compromising privacy. ‘Signs of Life’ utilises non-intrusive life signs technology to transform the way detainee wellness is monitored within a cell. Furthermore, the technology monitors respiratory rate, heart rate and occupancy, allowing for early intervention and better outcome for the preservation of life.
Lava Group supports the forum’s mission to enhancing the safe and efficient provision of custody services. Our offerings are aligned with the NPCC National Strategy for Police Custody, emphasising the safe and ethical treatment of all detainees to ensure fairness and dignity.
Lava Group’s involvement in the National Custody Forum underscores our commitment to working alongside law enforcement agencies to create, safer more effective custody environments.
